Whether you're asked to receive totes of fish or vegetables, pallets of case goods, serial numbered electronics or random weight products that are labeled with the customer's own descriptive bar code, the MAXwms application can seamlessly adapt to these uniquely different receiving requirements.


          • Receive common cases, pallets, totes or bundles – variable quantities but 1 sku per pallet and then associate to a MAXwms generated pallet ID bar code
    • Receive multiple unique items (i.e. serial numbered items) and then bundle or associate
      those unique items to a single pallet ID barcode and have the capability of tracking
      the serial numbers on outbound Bills of Lading and Packing Slips.
    • Receive product by scanning a customer’s descriptive bar code which contains the
      descriptive data related to the product.

Inventory Database

MAXwms provides its users with two ways of viewing inventory.  MAX has been designed as a third party WMS and therefore the users need to be able to manage multiple inventories for a virtually unlimited number of customers. Using the field chooser feature, users are able to determine what data fields they want or need displayed on their screen and save those settings. Users are then able to view, sort by customer, product category or any other field, export to excel, email individual line items, selected line items or all line items. Users can reposition columns sort alphabetically or numerically and conduct a search within any data column. Users can also choose to access the inventory grid through customer on the main menu. In this case the user will see only the inventory held in storage for that specific customer. All of the same sort and search features work in either grid selection.

Setup New 3rd Party Storage Account

When setting up a new customer, the first step is to assign a unique customer code and then the correct legal company name. The Carrier check box should be checked IF the customer is also a carrier OR if the customer regularly or even occasionally picks up their own goods rather than using a 3rd party common carrier. If you check the Carrier box the company will appear in the drop down list when creating the shipping BOL.
You can create a virtually unlimited number of contacts for each customer. Once the first one has been created an "Add" button will appear enabling the user to add additional contacts. The Invoice Address check box should be checked for a contact working at the location where the invoices are to be sent. Primary Contact is generally used for the individual that your customer has assigned to manage the relationship on a day to day basis. Listing the President, VP Finance or Controller, Director of Logistics and other contacts may allow your own management group to zipper in with your customer’s organization at the appropriate levels. The Security Check box limits the contacts that some users may have access to. Setting up security and access rights is entirely your decision and can be done easily by your manager or MAX administrator.

Create a Detailed Pick Slip

As a user, you have the option of creating a Detailed Pick Slip or a General Pick Slip. Detailed pick slips direct the warehouseman to a specific location and are generally used when picking from Rack or Bin pick locations. The general pick is ideal for bulk storage areas where the picker only needs to locate the right product and lot number but not necessarily a specific case or pallet. When doing a general pick the scanner program displays the location options that the warehouseman can select from. In the example above the person creating the pick slip can select any quantity between one case and all of the cases on a pallet or bundle as identified by the MAXwms Pallet ID barcode which was applied to the pallet upon the initial receiving.

The MAXwms Pallet ID barcodes are unique sequential numbers generated in the MAX application. The Barcode is printed on a two part 4" X 6" label. The larger barcode (4" X 5 1/2 ") section is applied to the pallet or "item" being received. The smaller duplicate bar code (4" X 1/2 ") section is applied to a receiving document. The numbering logic is as follows: The first two characters represent a site ID as selected by the user. The next two characters (09) represent the year, the next two (02) represent the month and the next two (21) represent the day within that month. The final four characters (0001) represent the pallet number being received on that specific day. This numbering logic means that you can receive 9,999 pallets every day for 100 years without duplicating a bar code number. It is advisable to print ID barcodes as they are required and do your best to use them on the day they were printed. Doing so provides you with a human readable view of when the pallet was initially received and this enables you to see the initial receipt date without having to do a scan verification with a handheld or forklift mounted scanner.
